Perseverance

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”

James 1:12 NIV

perseverance – persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success, persistence, tenacity, determination, resolve, resolution, resoluteness, staying power, firmness.

“David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him. And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.” 1 Samuel 22:1-2 KJV

Have you ever felt overwhelmed, defeated and like the group who joined David in the cave of Adullam ? In debt, distressed and discontented? If we are honest than I am sure we all have. With life happening and some unexpected things taking place in each of our lives , it can cause us at times to want to lie down and quit; but the great news today is if we stay the course, refuse to give up no matter how difficult or hopeless our situation seems and we persevere in the midst of great trial then we receive an upgrade and a crown from Jesus Christ himself. Many times the trials we are facing are simply test for promotion. In order to be promoted to the next grade in academics there are exams or test given in order to go to the next level, if we successfully pass we can be promoted. I want to encourage you today that you are not alone in facing your trial, be it financially ,health, depression, loneliness marriage , relationships or losing someone close to you. if you are a Believer in Christ ,you have the Holy Spirit inside of you to strengthen you , help you and give you wisdom in this time of testing and just like the group who followed David you will soon discover that if you persevere under trial, there is a crown, promotion and upgrade in life for you. So set your heart and mind today that you will not quit but persevere no matter how severe the trial becomes , you will finish your race and receive your victors crown.
